Guest Blogger Jody Wallace- Meankitty Interviews Her Typing Slave

I, Meankitty, have been interviewing authors for several years now (http://blog.jodywallace.com/search/label/interviews). This includedJava (the cat who once owned Meg Benjamin), which appears here: http://blog.jodywallace.com/2009/07/meankitty-wants-to-know-java-and-meg.html. Not once has my Typing Slave (Jody Wallace) consented to be interviewed by me. Now, at long last, she is going to answer my questions. There will be nine of them since we're blogging with the Nine Naughty Novelists today.

1) Why did you decide to be a writer instead of a cat sanctuary owner?

Zoning laws in this neighborhood prohibit the number of felines per acre for it to count as a sanctuary. Also, you won't LET any more cats live here, Meankitty. I'd love to have more cats, but you...

2) Oh, shut up. You're such a complainer. Just tell me why you think cats are better than dogs? (Since you call yourself a writer, I trustyour answer will be eloquent.)

The smell.

3) I should have guessed you were as cruddy a writer as you are a catslave. Tell me why it took so long for you to dedicate a book to me?

Well, the first several stories I got published were shorter narratives under the penname Ellie Marvel. Technically, when you aren't being Meankitty, Ellie is your NAME, so why did I have to dedicate them to you as well?

3b) Because. Now answer the question.

I don't know why it took me so long. Perhaps I had to allow my talents increase to the point where I could do you justice.

4) It's arguable that you could ever reach that point. So which book is my book and why?

As readers of this blog may not know, my February 2011 Samhain novel, entitled One Thousand Kisses (http://www.jodywallace.com/books/onethousandkisses.htm), is dedicated to the cat. This is because the true hero of the book is one Master Fey, and not the stupid two-legs (Anisette and Embor) who spend half the book running around trying to make the cat happy. Not very competently, might I add. They were distracted by mating urges and poor communication the like. I had to make it accurate, so of course the two-leggers were much less perfect than the feline.

5) Aside from my book, what are your favorite works of fiction involving cats or favorite fictional cats?

We are very fond of Nick Bruehl's Bad Kitty series in this house. I also really liked Gayle Greeno's Ghatti fantasy novels (The Farthest Seeking, Finders Seekers, Exile's Return, Mindspeaker's Call). I think there have been a few more published since I first read them, too.

6) Do you have any amazing revelations about how magnificent I am to share with readers of the blog?

Meankitty has this trick. In our house we call it the "one paw", because one effortless paw is all she needs to force us to do her bidding or be driven mad. Here is a video link:

7) What one thing would you change about me if you could?

The way you are desperate to get into the attic (aka the Forbidden Zone), and whenever you do get in there, you run amuck and we can't get you out of the insulation. That is kind of scary for me since insulation isn't exactly safe.

8) I'm perfectly fine in the attic. In fact, you should put a cat door so I have access anytime I want. So what if it would let bugs into the house? I like those too.

Aren't you supposed to be interviewing me?

8b) I guess. Can you type with a cat stretched out across your wrists?

Not very well.

9) When you're in the zone with your writing, what do I have to do to get your attention?

I'm not going to tell you that. Then you'll do it all the time.

9b) It's not for me, it's for the blog readers.

You can't trick me!

9c) Not even if I do this?

Cut that out. Hey, stop! Give me that. Come back here....

***

Readers, she is now distracted. Everyone have a great week!

Sincerely,

Meankitty & Typing Slave

Meankitty has been the grandmother of all internet cat sites since the year 2000. At one point she was hugely popular, with thousands of fans, but visitations have fallen by the wayside due to her Typing Slave (Jody Wallace) not being hip enough to invent LOLCats first. Also, she believes the attention span of internet users has shortened. As for Ms. Wallace, she writes fantasy romance as Jody Wallace and erotic romance as Ellie Marvel, and mostly does what Meankitty wants, except let her into the attic. 3. Hi Meg! She'd love to interview Pancho and Letty :). Thanks for having us here today. Meankitty would thank you, but she's currently watching birds out the back door with deadly intent.
