I have to admit I've got a thing for heroes with the military in their backgrounds, either active-duty or veterans. Perhaps my own years in the USN have colored my preferences, but in my fantasy word there's nothing like a hunky, battle-hardened man with sharp senses, intelligence and the will to act. I've written all sorts of heroes, business men, engineers, cowboys, and forest rangers, even a sheriff or two. The heroes I find myself drawn to most are soldiers, airmen, marines and sailors. Especially sailors like Senior Chief Hank O'Mara of Off Limits, my latest erotic romance from Red Sage Publishing. You can check out an excerpt here http://rueallyn.com/off-limits-excerpt/. However, I don't write for my own pleasure but yours. So tell me, what kind of hero do you like? Post an answer and provide an e-mail address. I'll draw a winner and send that person a copy of Off Limits.
Bio I wrote my first story around the age of five and read my first romance at the age of eight. I've been in love with being in love ever since. I'm happily married to my sweetheart of many, many years. we share the home of two cats, who condescend to allow me to feed them and clean their litter box. They occasionally permit me to pet them but demand my love and attention as their right. I am in awe of their feline ability to dominate with half a glance or a mere twitch of tail. I am insatiably curious, an avid reader and traveler. I love to hear from readers about your favorite books and real life adventures. I also love my work. Seriously, what could be more fun than sharing love and adventure with all your friends?
I love heroes who are military as well or one that's in uniform such as a firefighter or policeman. They are just so strong, sexy and protective of their women *sigh* Thanks for chance at giveaway.

I like unlikely heroes. I like them scruffy, intelligent, and with a bad attitude. I prefer the quiet alpha male in the corner snarling at everyone than the smooth operator charming the whole place.

ReplyDeletePhuong, you are so right. The uniform doesn't matter too much, but a hero who makes a living jumping into danger is tops of my list. Thanks for posting.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you Jenna. I can take or leave the bad attitude but scruffy, independent (willing to bend/break rules for the right reasons), and intelligent (an absolute must) suits me just fine in a fictional romance hero.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the Naughty Nine Rue! I like heroes with military in their background too though I haven't written many myself. I like the idea that they can can probably do whatever it takes to protect their woman. But I pretty much just like men :-)
ReplyDeleteKelly thanks for the warm welcome. Gotta love men in general.
ReplyDeleteSmokin' hot excerpt, Rue!
ReplyDeleteI am a sucker for a military hunk, no preference on branch of service. I also love firefighters and police officers. Probably because of the fantasy factor. IRL I work an office job and there aren't all that many hunks around...
