Stalkers. FBI. Car chases. Missing people. Dead bodies....
Now that I have you're attention, we're talking about Romantic Suspense for this month's Friday Book Club and storylines that give you thrills, chills and that tease of adrenaline-fueled romance.
Karen Robards was my first taste of romance suspense a ways back, along with some early Nora Roberts books. And who could forget classic Linda Howard? It's not a genre I read quite as much any more, but nothing gets me turning the pages faster than a suspenseful road romance where the hero and heroine are slow to trust and even slower when the bad guy(s) give them enough down time to give into all that sexual tension they've been fighting since Chapter One.
So who are your go-to romantic suspense authors? What's your favorite rom suspense book or series? Have any romantic suspense storylines that you just can pass up?
Next month we'll be talking about our all-time favorite authors and books we could read over and over again.
Shannon McKenna!! She writes super hot suspense with OTT yummy alpha heroes. She has a new book coming soon that I can't wait to read - the hero is a character who's been in so many books as a kind of goofy secondary character and I can't wait to see how she makes him a hero. Also I enjoy Elizabeth Lowell and of course Nora's suspense romances.

ReplyDeleteNora's newest, Whiskey Beach, is a really good read. I'm always up for Carla Neggers' stuff and Linda Howard got me into reading romance in the first place. Jane Haddam isn't exactly romance, but she's definitely got the suspense part covered.
ReplyDeleteIris Johansen. Ugly Duckling is one of the books I return to every few years. I'm not a huge fan of her Eve Duncan series, but that's mostly because I like the romance:suspense ratio in her stand-alones.
ReplyDeleteSuspense used to be my genre of choice. I love Mary Higgins Clark. I also love Anne Siddons books. I don't think they are classified as suspense, but one of my favorites of hers certainly was.
