I’m on a blog tour this week talking about my latest release You Really Got Me. If you’d like to know more about the setting (California wine country), making wine, the “guilty pleasures” in the book, why the first scene of the book is my favourite and how it had to be rewritten (with a sample from the cut version), I hope you’ll stop by and check out some of my posts.
So I’m a
little blogged out about this book right now, but one thing I did want to
repeat is that if you found me through my book Rule of Three, or through my
hockey books, you’ll find this one quite different. It’s about a BDSM
relationship, where trust is so crucial between Dom and sub. Kendall and Jason's developing relationship
gets twisted up in a murder investigation and the fragile trust growing
between them is challenged.
One
thing I didn’t mention in any of the other posts is the music in the book. I
don’t always listen to music when I write, as I find lyrics sometimes
distracting from the words I’m trying to type. But there are times I listen to
music to set the tone for a scene. For example, that opening scene in the book…the
songs that are mentioned in it are songs I was listening to as I wrote it. They’re
very evocative — as Kendall says, they make you feel things. :-)
Because
Kendall loves sixties music, I listened to that too, sometimes. So many great
songs are mentioned in the book. I created a playlist at Grooveshark to make it easier for me to listen to them. Here’s
the link, you may enjoy listening to the music as you read.
