About Us

Once upon a time, there were nine naughty novelists. They were from all over the United States and Canada, and through the magic of the internet, they came together for blog hijinks, friendship, and more. They bonded over their shared love of wine, chocolate, shoes, and good books, including the ones they wrote together: The Zillionaire Vampire Cowboy's Secret Werewolf Babies, If You Give a Duke a Duchy and Nine Nights in New Orleans. Check out the 9NN Book page for details.

We will no longer be blogging here, but please check out our individual websites and Like us on Facebook.

THE NAUGHTY NINE

A little about me: I live in a cabin in Alaska, eleven miles from the nearest town. My sweetie and I are building a home here, which we hope will someday have running water. For now, the spectacular views of glaciers, the peace, the pure air, and the occasional visiting moose will have to do. I’ve been writing erotic romances ever since I left my high-stress life as a TV writer in Los Angeles. Quite a transformation …

… and that’s what I like to write about. Transformation. Those turning-points in life that bring out the deep secrets we hold inside.  Finding bliss by transcending the limits we’ve placed on ourselves. Freeing our true selves to be wilder, braver, more joyful. Everyone has a journey, and I write about those moments when the path takes an unexpected turn into sensual discovery. I believe magic happens when you open your soul and let sensuality transform you.

When my sweetie and I need a break from the frozen North, we go to the Big Island of Hawaii, where we’re building a cabin that we hope will someday have electricity. For now, the beautiful views of papaya fields, the peace, the sweet tropical breezes, and the occasional visiting mosquito will have to do.

My hubs and I have lived all around the U.S., including Kansas, Iowa, Washington, Oklahoma, Alabama, Colorado, Massachusetts, and Pennsyvania, with brief visits in California, Connecticut, and New Mexico. In fact, one of my favorite things to do is to travel around the country, preferably off the Interstate.

We lived in San Antonio, TX, for twenty years or so, until my hubs took a new job in the Colorado foothills. We're now living in the northern Denver suburbs. It was a big switch, but my mom grew up on the Western Slope, and she gave me an abiding love of the mountains. Plus I sort of prefer cold to heat, so snow doesn't bother me that much (particularly with it comes with a big helping of Colorado sunshine).

In Texas I taught English, desktop publishing, Web design, and editing, among other miscellaneous things before finally retiring. At the same time, I worked as a freelance writer and editor, on projects ranging from computer manuals to underwater photography books.

My hubs and I managed to raise two wonderful sons, along with a variety of cats and a couple of dogs. We still visit South Texas, and we still love to wander around the country when the spirit moves us, although these days we're likely to fly in and rely on public transportation (let's hear it for light rail trains!).

I've been hooked on writing ever since my third grade teacher singled out my desert island story for praise in front of the class (Lots of palm trees and coconuts, plus a quirky monkey for comic relief...) And my mother is fond of reminding me that she still has my first self-published effort, a personal picture book from around the same era titled, "When Mommy is Cold, I Have to Wear a Sweater. Since then, I've dabbled in everything from poetry to playwriting to short stories to personal essays. For a while, I even wrote copy for an online shoe company from time to time.Sadly, free shoes were not part of the contract. But my heart belongs to romance.

I'm a member of Romance Writers of America, both National and my local chapter. I've served as newsletter editor and president, and was thrilled to receive the first-ever Lucy Award, given for consistent pursuit of a career in romance writing. (And getting a contract four days after earning the award was icing on the cake!) I can't say enough good things about RWA. Not only has it been an amazing source of industry information and craft knowledge, but the friends and mentors I have met through RWA are ones I truly cherish.

On a personal level, I live in the Pacific Northwest with my husband and children.

I wrote my first serialized story when I was still in my teens. The sexy, adventure tales were very popular at my oh-so-proper, all girls, Catholic High School, where they helped to liven up otherwise dull classes.

A lot of years have passed since then, but I’m still at it, penning novels and novellas in the romantic suspense, psychic fiction and erotic romance genres.

Originally a Jersey Girl, I currently reside on the Extreme Left Coast with my husband and soulmate, our two young adult kids and a random assortment of animal companions.

Law librarian by day, hot romance writer by night, wife and mommy round the clock. Still too shy to post my picture. People at my church and my daughter’s school don’t know about the romance writer part, and I’m going to keep it that way for a while.
I’m 46 and sometimes still yearn for the 80s.

Native Texan, Houston resident. I love this city, even in the summer time. I can drive in a hurricane, but snow flurries freak me out. I like rock and roll, gossip blogs, shrimp, sewing, poker, history and vodka. I read paranormal romance, urban fantasy, science fiction and history.

Favorite authors: Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman, Kage Baker, Connie Willis, Loretta Chase.
Addicted to blogs, Diet Coke and Twitter.

I have a crush on the Duke of Wellington.

Family: big hairy Hub, smart (aleck) Diva, exponentially growing puppy and a freakishly long lived beta fish (we think he might be immortal.)

Kelly Jamieson is a USA Today best-selling author of over thirty-five romance novels and novellas.  Her writing has been described as “emotionally complex”, “sweet and satisfying” and “blisteringly sexy”. She likes coffee (black), wine (mostly white), shoes (high) and watching hockey!

Skylar Kade, self-avowed hedonist and princess extraordinaire, started her writing career after throwing aside yet another romance she could not bring herself to finish. The run-on sentences! The purple prose! Oh, the horror of it was just too much. So she sat down to write her own tale. Her favorite part about writing is the extensive research.

She currently resides in sunny southern California, alternately cursing the polluted air and adoring the often-perfect weather. Skylar spends her time asking the cabana boys to bring her more mimosas and feed her strawberries while she dreams up her next naughty adventure.

You can find her erotic romances at Samhain and Ellora's Cave, in print and e-book.

As she is permanently attached to the Internet (they are looking into surgical procedures to fix her crackberryitis), she would love to hear from you!

A born and raised Maritimer, Sydney Somers fell in love with writing when she finished her first story, Jenny and the Glowing Green Mittens. After attempting her first book in high school, she set writing aside to focus on school. While getting her degrees in psychology and education, Sydney tried her hand at journalism between part time jobs before finally returning to her love of writing.

Twenty-five novels and novellas later, Sydney is thrilled to spend her days slaying demons, running with shape-shifter packs and making the people in her head fall wildly in love. When she’s not writing or curled up with a good book, Sydney can be found chasing after her herd of kids, talking her way into a gourmet meal, exterminating rogue dust bunnies or joking about the pending zombie apocalypse. She loves hearing from readers and invites them to contact her anytime.
