But what about facial hair? What do readers prefer when it comes to their heroes? These are the sorts of questions that keep me up at night, they really do.
So I'm putting the question out there for comment. When it comes to facial hair, do you prefer your heroes:
clean-shaven?
with a little bit of scruff?
more of a five o'clock shadow?
a goatee?
or a full-on beard?
Enquiring minds want to know!
If you had to choose, what would YOUR pick be?
Well since the DH has had a mustache for lo, these many years, I gotta say a little fuzz is always nice!
ReplyDeleteI like it all. It really depends on the guy. And, gee, Kate, speaking of guys, I'm so impressed by this group you put together. I can tell you really must have had to search to find all these shots. Do you know anything about any of these guys?
ReplyDeleteROFL. Sorry. I'm a little giddy this morning. It's an awesome collection and, as usual, I admire your taste. But I couldn't choose just one look any more than I could choose just one of these guys.
My natural preference is the clean shaven look but it really depends on the guy...some look great with a little facial hair and some just don't!
ReplyDeleteMeg - I searched high and low for a pic of a guy with a moustache but the closest I found was the goatee. I should have come to you!
ReplyDeletePG - I take my responsibilities seriously here. And no, I've never heard of any of these guys before. I just picked them at random from a Google image search. *hides Blog Hotties picture folder*
Maria - Yeah, I'm with you - it really does depend on the guy! I'm usually more of a clean-shaven or stubble fan, but then I see Alex O'L with a beard and think, hmmm...
(Whoops. PG, you didn't see that, did you? Still clueless on the guys' identities. Honest.)
I can handle almost any kind of facial hair EXCEPT a mustache or beard. And that is because my brain automatically associates those with my father and that is the LAST image I need while reading a romance.
ReplyDeleteBut my favorites would be clean shaven or a little scruffy/5 o'clock shadow.
5 o'clock shadow for sure. A little scruff goes a long way. I feel the same way about chest hair. I don't want a waxed chest at all but I don't want furry either.
ReplyDeleteI could take Alex O'Loughlin any old way... the man can grow a full beard in 5 days. His five o'clock shadows show up before noon!
ReplyDeleteSexy man, sexy sexy sexy man and just the right amount of hair. He's not grossly hairy just nice and masucline furry.
If I wanted a Ken doll, I could buy one.
I love this question. My answer is, it depends. My answer sucks, right? I just finished reading Count to Ten by Karen Rose. The hero had a goatee that made him "look like Satan". It was more a character trait than just facial hair. The facial either serves a purpose for the character or is a character trait but it shouldn't just be there because. My favorite was in the Dark Hunter series when Sherrilyn Kenyon wrote that when Zarek shaved off his facial hair, Valerius realized that they were actually brothers.:) That's what I mean about facial hair having meaning!
ReplyDeleteI love a full beard. I love the way it feels when I rub against it and I love the casual look it gives to a guy.
ReplyDeleteI like it all! My hubby has to be clean shaven for his job BUT when we vacation or he's off a few day he will grow it out for me ( love the way it feels when he rubs on me). he does scruffy goatee, and he has done a full short beard before. Sorry to say not a fan of the mustache though, except on other men I can handle it just not on my guy. Now as for Alex I'd take him :) I'm kinda loving me some Jason Mamoa from Game of Throne -yummy
ReplyDeleteWell, I agree with all of the above comments but also weigh in with ... scruffy. To me it = sexy! LOL, have no idea why, guess it's because the husband is always in various shades of 'scruffy' :)
ReplyDeleteI do love a little scruff. *sigh* My hubs had a moustache for many years (since the 80's when they were "in" and finally shaved it off to go clean shaven. I liked the moustache in the 80's, now not so much. I think Tom Selleck is one of the few who can pull tha off. Unfortunately, when the hubs doesn't shave and has a little scruff, it's quite...grey. Sorry hon. It's not quite the same.
ReplyDeleteDepends on the guy...some look best clean shaven, some with a scruff, and some with goaties.
