Guest Blogger Cornelia Amiri - Vampire Highland Fling

I am intrigued by Scottish folk tales of Celtic vampiric fey roaming the Highlands, the baobhan sith (baa'-van shee), also called the dancing vampires.

The gorgeous temptresses appear before their human victims, usually young men coming from the local pub late at night. Clad in scanty green silk dresses displaying their shapely, sensuous bodies they entice these stumbling men to dance with them. Burning with desire for the hot embrace of a seductress’s slender arms and the softness of a dancer’s supple thigh, the men enjoy dancing with the baobhan sith, at first. Once the men grow exhausted from the nonstop dancing, the baobhan sith strike. Without warning, their long nails transform into talons of death, to rip the flesh of their victims and drink of the crimson stream. They don’t have fangs, their nails extend like claws and they use them as a deadly weapon.

Some of the other ways Celtic fey vampires differ from their more traditional, fang growing counterparts is they don’t turn mortals and no one stakes them through the heart. With the baobhan sith it’s all about the cairn. When a stone in a cairn is overturned, the baobhan sith are able to pass through to our realm. To get rid of them just stack the stones back on the cairn and they cannot leave their fey realm underhill.

Of course I thought what great characters the baobhan sith would make for an erotica paranormal romance series for Ellora’s Cave. The first of my Dancing Vampires Quickie Series, Dance of the Vampires, came out in March and the second, my new release, Vampire Highland Fling, comes out August 8. There will be five in the series all together, I like to think of them as 5 shades of Fey.

Here’s a blurb of my new release, Vampire Highland Fling.

Murdina, a dark vampiric fey, hunts the Scottish Highlands for a man, but not for blood. Murdina wants love. She spots Cameron playing the bagpipes as he’s coming from a wedding. When a strong wind lifts his kilt, she takes a good look and decides he’s the one. When Cameron meets a beautiful, mysterious woman who dances the Highland Fling for him, his blood boils for her. Soon Murdina and Cameron are doing more than dancing. Wrapped in each other’s arms they discover true love, but their time together is limited before Murdina’s fey sisters cross the portal to steal her away and probably kill him. Is their love strong enough to overcome the threat her sisters pose to Murdina’s heart and to Cameron’s life?

I’m having a contest to celebrate my new release. Please comment below and I’ll pick one winner for a PDF eBook of Vampire Highland Fling and one winner for a PDF of Dance of The Vampires.
