Tell Us A Secret!

Many of you know I have a day job, which I love (almost as much as the writing job!). And next week is the gearing-up-for-the-new-year retreat at my district. In preparation for this event, we were sent a form to fill out with questions about our own school experiences, our personal likes and dislikes, and little-known stuff about ourselves. Some of it was easy - who was your favorite teacher, what schools did you attend, tell us about your family. Some of it, however, was more challenging.

See, I haven't shared my "side job" with my co-workers. Oh, some of them know I write, or have written, and I've shared some of the non-romance publishing credits with a few friends on staff. But the pen name? The books published? Confidential information, baby.

Which made the question "tell us something about yourself that we don't already know" a bit tempting to answer.

In the end, I decided to go with something other than the writing. But it was a little bit of a bummer not to be able to share something of which I'm very proud. So in that spirit, I thought I'd share a couple of secrets with all of you.

1. I write fanfic, in a couple of different fandoms, under (yet another) pseudonym. Currently, everything I write in fandom is m/m, and I've reached a point where I'm ready to start branching out into original m/m romance. In fact, when the current novella trilogy is done, my next manuscript will be a m/m romance.

2. In addition to fanfic, I've tried my hand at a couple of fanvids. One of which, beyond any realm of understanding, has managed to accrue 1.6 MILLION VIEWS on YouTube. And it's not even that good. It was the first video I ever attempted, and the cuts are really rough. But whatever, it still makes me giggle to see those numbers.

3. And the one I shared with my co-workers: I once sang Karaoke in a Filipino restaurant in the middle of Munich. Under duress. And since there were almost no songs in English available, I ended up warbling The Theme From Mahogany - or at least I attempted it. All I really knew was the chorus, and that was sketchy.

Do you have a secret to share? Go ahead and spill it in the comments. We won't tell!

#1. Yes! It's about time. :)

#2. Ain't no mystery about it. I love that vid. And since I don't think I've watched it a million times, I'm thinking a lot of other people loved it too.

#3. No comment. ;)
